Remote World Model Car Club was founded in 1981, by a group of enthusiastic model car owners who wanted somewhere to race their 1/8th scale radio controlled model Rallycross cars. The Club began life at Remote World farm, in Goring, Berks, from where the club takes it’s name. In 1985 the Club moved to Stoke Poges and in 1988, relocated to it’s present site in Upton Court Park, Slough, Berkshire. All race meetings are run to a high standard using a computerised lap counting system (AMB). Racing consists of between 4 and 6 rounds of qualifying heats, each heat being 5 minutes in duration, with finals for all drivers. The finals are usually 20 minutes in duration, but during the winter, may be reduced due to the weather conditions and light. The Club’s track facilities combined with it’s ability to run well organised race meetings, maintain Remote World at the forefront of 1/8th Rallycross racing in the UK. The Club welcomes drivers of all ages and abilities, from complete novices through to “expert” drivers. Members come from all over the South of England and the Midlands. Some of the original members from Goring are still actively involved with the club. The present membership stands at just over 50. The Club races radio controlled model cars, which are 1/8th scale off-road buggies (rallycross), powered by 3.5cc glow plug engines, and controlled be 2 channel radio control systems. The cars are generally proprietary kits from various manufacturers and each are very technically advanced. All the cars are fully adjustable to suit different driving styles and track conditions. Nearly all are 4 wheel drive.
